1:72 scale kits - Hasegawa FS-X & F-2A/B

In the early 1980s Japan started the FS-X (Fighter Support - Experimental) program to develop a new fighter for the Japanese Air Self Defense Force (JASDF). Ultimately Japan industry partnered with General Dynamics to develop a new fighter based on the F-16. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) of Japan was the prime contractor. The first flight of the XF-2A was in 1995.

The Hasegawa kits include an early speculative version based on the original F-16 kit and a series of all new F-2A/B kits, released after the real F-2 was in flight test.
