1:72 scale F-16 kits by Hobbycraft, Intech,

The Hobbycraft, Intech, Smer and AeroPlast kits are all based on the Italeri/Testors molds. Some detail was lost, for instance the exhaust nozzle is a completely smooth cylinder. No external fuel tanks, but two AIM-65s and six AIM-9s are included.

  • The highlight of this kit is the decal sheet with markings for F-16s from three different countries.

  • Out of the box this kit is a Block 25/32 F-16, and can be built as either an F-16C or F-16D.
  • Identical to #1326 but with the larger C/D style vertical tail housing and different armament, this time with correct late style external wing tanks and 2 AIM-7s, incorrect for any F-16C/D.
  • Includes only the NSI 'small mouth' inlet. The MCID 'big mouth' inlet for the Block 40 markings is not included.
  • Does not include bulged main landing gear doors or any other mods included with the Block 40/42 upgrade.
  • Again, the highlight of this kit is the decal sheet with markings for four F-16s from two different countries.

The Trumpeter and Income kits are from China and are both extremely poor copies the Italeri/Testors molds. The panel lines are grossly oversize, and the "decals" are adhesive-backed peel-off stickers. These kits are not for the serious modeler.

  • Out of the box this kit is a Block 15, and can be built as either an F-16A or F-16B.
  • The intake is blocked a short distance past the inlet lip.
  • Cockpit detail is minimal with poor ACES II seats. Canopies can only be shown in the closed position.
  • Includes both standard and extended vertical base base housings, exhaust nozzles for a closed F100-PW and an open F110-GE engine.
  • External stores include two AIM-9s, one centerline and two 370 gal wing fuel tanks.
  • Decals are of the "stick-on" type and do not represent any F-16.
  • Molded in white with very large and deep engraved panel lines.
