1:48 scale F-16 kits by Revell, Revell/Monogram,
and Revell of Germany
The Revell kit was the first 1:48 kit to accurately represent an FSD F-16A. The larger ventral fins, single-piece nose gear door, larger nose/radome, and the Stencel SIIIS ejection seat are correct for the FSD/production airframes, but the small scoops behind the main gear doors are missing. The single-piece canopy can only be built in the closed position. Stores include two AIM-9s and two early-style external wing fuel tanks. All the Revell kits have a mix of raised and engraved panel lines.

Revell updated the kit twice, once to represent an ADF version, and later to represent an early Block 30 F-16C.

  • Out of the box this kit can be built as an early Block 30 F-16C with the NSI small mouth inlet.
  • Revell upgrades their original kit with new parts to build an F-16C. New parts include an ACES II ejection seat, GE engine nozzle (but only the small NSI inlet), new centerline fuel tank, correct IFF antenna under the nose just behind the radome, and the correct larger rudder dorsal and enlarged horizontal tailplanes.
  • Stores includes two new AIM-9s, two AGM-88 HARM missiles (with new pylons) and an ACMI wingtip pod. Also included are what look like two of the small inlet mounted jammer pods carried by the US Navy's F-16Ns. Leave these off because the Block 30s that flew hunter/killer missions with F-4G Wild Weasel Phantoms (as depicted in these markings) did not carry these pods on the inlets.
  • The UHF lower antenna is depicted just behind the lower intake edge (Blocks 01-10), and should be moved back between the ventral strakes for Block 15 and later, including all F-16Cs.

  • Similar to Revell #4538 above, but with new parts to build an F-16A ADF variant. AIM-7 Sparrows replace the AGM-88 missiles, with the correct ADF-style bulged rudder dorsal and IFF antenna farms but the spotlight in the nose is missing.
  • The UHF lower antenna is depicted just behind the lower intake edge (Blocks 01-10), and should be moved back between the ventral strakes for Block 15 and later, including all F-16Cs.
  • The correct ACES II ejection seat is included. The GE engine nozzle is also there but don't use it - all ADF variants were powered by Pratt & Whitney F100-PW-200s.

The following are snap-together kits and are completely different than any of the previous Revell kits. The kits are meant to be posed in-flight on the included stand, so no landing gear is included and gear doors are molded closed. This version has several shape inaccuracies and is more of a toy than a scale model. The seat is not an ACES II but appears to be some form of Martin Baker seat (never used in any F-16).
