Flight Simulation - C.R. Smith Museum Flight Simulator

The American Airlines C.R Smith Museum is located just south of the DFW International Airport halfway between Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas. In 1997 I was asked by the director of the museum if I could build a flight simulator exhibit for the museum. We talked about ideas, features and prices and I received the go-ahead to begin construction in December. The following pages depict a chronological history of the construction and completion of the museum flight simulator. It was a long and satisfying project, and it was really nice to actually get paid for doing something I really enjoyed!
The simulator relies on several key components which I don't have the space to fully describe on these pages.
The flight simulation software is the ever popular (but now defunct) Flight Unlimited III by Looking Glass Technologies.
The video card is a Voodoo chip-based Pure 3D by Canopus Corporation. (also now defunct)
The entire interface was accomplished with the EPIC card by R&R Electronics . (thanks, Ralph!)
There are three pages of thumbnails with links to descriptions about each picture.
